Boat Smart from the Start! Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 87 (Lake Anna) is offering the "About Boating Safely" course that will teach you how to be responsible and safe on the water. You will learn skills to help you prevent boating accidents. There will be a class on Saturday, March 15 from 8:30 am to 4:30 PM. The cost of this eight hour class is $20 per person. In addition to the class room instruction, you will receive class materials, including a CD of the course. Please bring a bag lunch. The class will be at Kirk O'Cliff Church on Monrovia Road (Rt 612). You will learn all of the Virginia Boating and PWC requirements. After attending the class and taking the final exam, you will receive a USCG Auxiliary Safe Boating Certificate. This certificate could reduce your boat insurance. Also, the certificate will allow children between 14 and 15 to operate a PWC. Reservations are required by March 13.
